From Mauritius to Mexico the world united on Monday 4 March to celebrate World Tennis Day.
With events taking place across the globe in a bid to promote tennis and increase participation among young players.
As well as feature events with Tennis Stars in New York Madison Garden and Hong Kongs’ Asia World arena, many countries celebrated with school and community groups raising awareness of their own Tennis Programmes.
There were also events in Malaysia, Burundi and Turkey, where wheelchair tennis players took part in a tree planting ceremony at the BNP Paribas World Team Cup European Qualification event in Antalya.
Not to be outdone we celebrated World Tennis Day in our own unique way, away from the traditional tennis club or court, and set up the Tennis Factory outside our warehouse unit in North Yorkshire.
Throughout the day tenants from local businesses took time out of their working day to compete against each other on our Rally Stations.
Machinists to Mechanics, Secretarys to Carpet Fitters, MD’s to Fish Farmers all participated in the fun, and with comments like “I could play this all day” and “I’ll pop back later on” we can safely say that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience – so much so we may do it on a regular occasion.
The Rally Stations – Volley Ladder, Mini Net, Rebound Wall and Mini Net formed part of a rotational circuit of activity with mini games on each, using soft balls.
